　　在国内愿意亲自给别人写推荐信的人很少，一般是些德高望重的老教授或者从国外留学归来的年轻老师。所以大部分中国申请者都是自己以推荐人的口气用英文把推荐信写好，然后再请推荐人签字。在这种情况下，最好先用汉语打个草稿让推荐人看过以后，如果推荐人同意再翻译成英文形式。
　　所以说确定了推荐人之后，在写推荐信前应该先仔细斟酌一下应该着重表现哪些方面。如果仅仅从网上搜索模板，修改一下的话，那样就会发现基本上所有中国学生的推荐信是千篇一律的，这样并不能给学校的评审委员留下印象，也就没有起到应有的作用，所以推荐信种有一个主要的闪光点是非常重要的。
　　对于推荐信的内容应该写得具体一些还是较为笼统这个问题，在我看来，级别较高得推荐人写的推荐信不能太具体，因为在社会地位较高的人工作上比较繁忙，如果写的过于具体，反而会对推荐信的可信度大打折扣。不过如果推荐人跟申请人关系比较熟悉，就可以写的相对具体一点。并且可以用一些比较具体的事例来作为他推荐你的理由，因为一封推荐信如果仅仅有赞美之词，可是没有事例作为佐证的话，那就会显得较为空洞，也不能增加录取委员会对你的任何了解。同时为了增加推荐信的真实性，也可以少写一些并不是很重要但是很中肯的小缺点，其实从另一方面来看，这样不失为一种聪明的策略。
　　对于申请人来说，要用三种不同的口吻推荐自己，所以要注意以下几点：
　　客观评价自己的成就，避免赞美过度。推荐信应该表明推荐人对于申请者的动机是有一定了解的，并能解释申请者进一步深造的需求。
　　列举出具体的事例，避免表达意思太泛泛。推荐信中对于申请者的重要素质和能力要求有事例的支持，作为你的教授或者老板，举出你在工作和学习中的具体表现应该也是非常容易的。
　　转换语言风格和思维角度，这样可以增加推荐信的可信度。对于一些重要的成就和优点进行描述时，应该从推荐人的角度出发，还有就是语言风格上、用词上要注意变换，避免出现自己在自述信中常用的词语和语气，避免三封推荐信出现雷同。
　　要避免语法、拼写、还有一些明显的用词错误。如果推荐信中出现错误，这对推荐信的作用也是有影响的。
　　推荐信切忌写的过长，一般来说500英文以内比较合适。
